The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities reports that unemployment benefits will soon run out for three-quarters of a million long-term unemployed workers: “Last week the Administration backed off its own optimistic job-growth projections for the rest of the year," said Isaac Shapiro, senior fellow at the Center. “Now that it has begun to recognize the hard realities of the current labor market, the Administration also needs to recognize that the federal unemployment program was switched off too soon and should be resumed.”
